Toddler bit by snake

A toddler was bit by a snake while on a family hike in Murrieta Saturday, and was critically injured.

The bite was reported around 11 a.m. near the intersection of East Benton and Warren roads.

CAL FIRE says the type of snake was unknown, but the family believed it to be a rattlesnake.

The toddler was taken by ambulance to a helicopter that transported him by air to an area hospital.

He was in critical condition, but firefighters said the child had stable life signs.
