Bermuda Dunes robbery leads to two arrests

An Indio man and a juvenile have been arrested following an armed robbery in Bermuda Dunes last month.

Police say 22-year-old James Crowell and a 17-year-old assaulted a man who was walking on the evening of March 16 in a Bermuda Dunes neighborhood. The victim told police the two threatened him and took off with his personal belongings before taking off from the scene in a car.

Police responded to the area but were not able to locate the suspects.

After a lengthy investigation, members from the Coachella Valley Violent Gang Task Force served two search warrants in the 46000 block of Clinton Street in the city of Indio.

As result of the search warrants, a .38-caliber revolver, sawed-off shotgun and ammo were seized.

Crowell and the teen were taken into custody.

The 17-year-old juvenile was transported to the Indio Juvenile Hall where he was booked for robbery and possession of a short-barreled shotgun.

Christopher James Crowell was transported to the Riverside County jail in Indio and booked for robbery and possession of an unregistered firearm.
