Driver Of Stolen Truck Leads Police On High Speed Chase

According to Cathedral City Police a stolen white pick up truck led them on a high speed chase that ended on Palm Drive just North of Interstate 10.

The truck was reported stolen out of Desert Hot Springs and was spotted by Cathedral City Police at Mission Drive and Gene Autry. The truck fled and led them on a chase with speeds up to 90 miles an hour.

According to a witness the suspect hit a vehicle at Palm Drive and Paul just North of Interstate 10 then blew a tire and hit the curb. The suspect ran from the vehicle and threw a gun into the desert. Police chased the suspect and took him into custody.

Palm Drive was shut down for a short time while the investigation took place, but opened back up just before 6 pm Friday.
