Man arrested for stealing woman’s cell phone at gunpoint
A 32-year-old Coachella man was arrested over the weekend on accusations of robbing a woman at gunpoint.
Police said the woman was exiting her vehicle in the 49000 block of Grapefruit Boulevard at 11:45 p.m. Saturday when the suspect approached her with a gun and demanded cash.
The 44-year-old woman from Thermal refused to give the man any money so the suspect stole her cell phone and fled the scene in a silver midsize vehicle with paper plates.
The victim wasn’t injured, according to the Coachella Police Department.
After investigating, officers identified the suspect as Hector Pimental Monroy. Police served a search warrant in the 52000 block of Calle Camacho on Sunday and found the woman’s stolen cell phone.
Monroy was arrested for armed robbery and was booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio, according to the release. He’s being held in lieu of $30,000 bail and was expected to be arraigned Wednesday.
