Train collides with car near Grapefruit Blvd. and Avenue 54
A Union Pacific Freight Train was heading westbound in the Thermal area when it collided with a white SUV that was on the tracks.
The SUV came to rest just over 1,000 feet away from the crossing.
No occupants were in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
It appears at this time there is no damage to the train.
Ave 54 at Grapefruit was closed for a short time, and authorities are asking drivers to be cautious in the area from possible debris.
No one was hurt.
