Two local students chosen to represent La Quinta at Fuel Up to Play 60 Summit
Two local students have been selected by the California Milk Advisory Board as ambassadors for the nation’s largest health and wellness program .
Eighth-graders Denise Moreno and James Neuberger from La Quinta Middle School were chosen to attend this year’s “Fuel Up to Play 60” summit in Chicago.
The program encourages students to eat healthy, be active and make positive healthy changes in their communities.
Moreno said decisions teens make now will affect them for the rest of their lives.
“It’s important to be healthy when you’re young so when you’re older you don’t have to face more medical experiences,” Moreno said.
Neuberger said La Quinta Middle School offers numerous healthy options and plenty of time for physical activity.
“Instead of sitting down and eating hot Cheetos you should be playing active like doing sports and after school sports, things like that,” Neuberger said.
At the summit the students will have the chance to meet NFL players and work to increase access to healthy foods and 60 minutes of physical activity in school.
