Lake Fire 90 percent contained in San Bernardino mountains

After more than two weeks, firefighters had the Lake Fire 90 percent contained as of Saturday morning.

The fire sparked in the San Bernardino National Forest June 17 and flames burned 31,359 acres and one home.

According to the U.S. Forest Service nonessential personnel and equipment will be demobilized because of the level of containment.

A core group of firefighters and support personnel will remain on scene to mop up, patrol and complete fire-suppression repair. Unstaffed areas of the fire will continue to be monitored by air.

The cost to knock down the wildfire is currently estimated to be $39.5 million.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
