Man identified in deadly truck crash on I-10

A 57-year-old man from Carson was killed after his pickup truck drifted off I-10 and struck a guardrail Saturday morning. The collision happened just east of the Cactus City Rest Area near Frontage Road.

The coroner identified the man as Neil McShane.

According to a release from Officer Mike Radford with the California Highway Patrol, McShane was driving his Chevrolet 3500 westbound when he somehow drifted to the left and crossed over the median lines around 9:35 a.m.

His pickup truck went off the road and struck a guardrail before landing in a culvert. He wasn’t wearing a seat belt and he died at the scene, according to the CHP.

The collision is still under investigation and officers said it’s unknown at this time if alcohol and/or drugs contributed to the crash.
