Man crashes car evading Desert Hot Springs DUI checkpoint
A man is in jail for evading police during a DUI checkpoint in Desert Hot Springs, police say.
Friday night, police conducted a DUI/drivers license checkpoint on the 13700 block of Palm between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m.
While at the checkpoint, a gray 2012 Volkswagen Jetta failed to stop at the DUI checkpoint. Officers pursued the Jetta to Cactus and Hacienda, where it crashed into the concrete median at Cactus and Arroyo. The driver, Anthony Jenkins, ran from the vehicle. Officers ran after Jenkins, he fought with officers, and was arrested.
