Small plane crashes in Riverside neighborhood, killing pilot
A small plane has crashed and caught fire in Riverside, killing the pilot.
Fire Capt. Tim Odebralski said the plane went down in the yard of a home Sunday.
He says the fire was quickly doused and nobody on the ground was hurt.
The pilot was the only person on board.
Odebralski says the pilot radioed the tower at Riverside Municipal Airport around 5 p.m. to report losing engine power.
FAA Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the single-engine Beechcraft BE35 crashed about a half-mile east of the airport.
