Indio police search for armed man after Family Dollar store robbed

The Indio Police Department is looking for a man accused of robbing a Family Dollar store on Jackson Street with a semi-automatic weapon on Tuesday morning. The store is located near Dillon Avenue.

According to Sgt. Dan Marshall, officers were alerted to the armed robbery just before 9 a.m. He said the man got away with an unknown amount of cash after holding up a clerk.

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic man, 5’7″, 150 lbs., and said he was wearing a white cap, blue jeans and had a black bandana covering his face.

Nobody was hurt during the robbery, according to Sgt. Marshall.
