More than a dozen brass fire hydrant caps stolen in Cathedral City

The Coachella Valley Water Distirct is investigating the theft of more than a dozen brass fire hydrant caps from one Cathedral City neighborhood.

Monday morning, employees with the water district were seen surveying the area on Madrid Road, North of Vista Chino. We counted more than 15 hydrants without caps. Neighbors say thieves have hit the same area many times within the last few months, and they are glad the water district is taking action.

The Coachella Valley Water District is in charge of maintaining fire hydrants in the area.

If you know anything about these thefts you are urged to call police or Crimestoppers at (760) 341-STOP.
