‘Shelter from the Storm’ needs donations for transitional housing
Shelter from the Storm is a nonprofit organization in Palm Desert that specializes in helping victims of domestic violence. Organizers said they’re looking for some items to help with their Transitional Housing program and they hope the community can step in to donate.
The donations are especially needed after the organization recently lost critical funding. Shelter from the Storm has helped more than 210 people, including 142 children in just the last year, but now it’s in serious financial trouble.
Here is a list of items Shelter from the Storm could use:
General items
childhood safety kits
paper towels
toilet paper
Kleenex
emergency kits
flashlights and batteries
all types of cleaning supplies
Living Room
lamps and lampshades
Touchier floor lamps
non sharp-edged coffee tables and end tables
Kitchen Items
pots and pans with or without lids
plastic containers with lids
silverware
drinking glasses all sizes
kitchen towels, oven mitts or potholders
kitchen mats
cake pans and cupcake pans

Coordinators also said they have at least three units that are in dire need of couches and love seats, as the ones they have are ready to be thrown away.
The organization has someone that can come pick up your donated items and they will provide a donation receipt to you.
