Juvenile arrested for residential burglary in DHS

The Desert Hot Springs Police Department arrested a juvenile early Thursday morning after finding stolen property that was taken during a residential burglary.

Officers were called to the area of Cahuilla Avenue and Ocotillo Road around 1:15 a.m. after two people reportedly ran away from an abandoned vehicle that was left in the front yard of a home.

When officers arrived, the two subjects spotted them and ran away. Police then stopped a car in the area that was believed to be involved in the incident, according to the release.

While searching the car, officers said they found property that was stolen from a residential burglary that occurred earlier that night in the 65800 block of 5th Street.

The burglary victim was called to the scene and identified the stolen property, according to police. The suspect was arrested and booked into Indio Juvenile Hall.

Officers didn’t say if they were still searching for more suspects and they haven’t elaborated on the car that was abandoned in the front yard.
