Big Bear earthquake shakes Coachella Valley
People around southern California reported feeling an earthquake Wednesday morning centered near Big Bear Lake.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the 4.0 magnitude shaker was centered 8 miles south southeast of Big Bear at 9:10 a.m.
The USGS initially reported the quake as 4.5 in magnitude.
There were no reports of any damages or injuries, but the shaking could be felt from the coast in Laguna Nigel, to Adelanto to the north according to the USGS.
Some people reported feeling the quake as far away as San Diego.
A number of KESQ News Channel 3 viewers also called in to our news room to report feeling a slight shake throughout the Coachella Valley and high desert communities.
In Thousand Palms the event felt like a short slight roll.
In Yucca Valley it was described as a “gentle shake.”
A viewer in Rancho Mirage described both feeling and hearing the earth move.
