The Palm Desert Police Department is investigating after surveillance video was released of a man causally burglarizing an SUV on Willow Street near Desert Lily Street in late August.
Watch the video below
The burglary happened on Wednesday, August 26 at 3:30 a.m. The victims filed a police report but they said the surveillance video hadn’t been released to the media because authorities feared it may jeopardize the investigation
The victims captured clear visuals of the suspect from a surveillance camera perched near their driveway. They said the SUV was accidentally left unlocked by their daughter when she went to get something out of the vehicle the night before.
They said the burglar didn’t steal anything of much value because there wasn’t anything expensive left in the SUV at the time.
From the surveillance video, the suspect appears to be a Caucasian man in his late 20s to early 30s. He had short hair on the sides of his head and a tuft of hair on top. It also appears that he has a tattoo on his upper right arm/shoulder.
The suspect systematically goes through the SUV, searching for anything valuable, for about seven minutes, according to the victims.
If you think you know the suspect, you’re asked not to confront him, but call the police non-emergency number at 760-836-3215, and press five for dispatch to deliver your information.
