Tyler Kelleher crowned 2016 Queen Scheherazade

The Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival has a new Queen Scheherazade.

The scholarship pageant, held at the Indio fairgrounds, crowned three young women Saturday night.

Our own Gabriela Quezada of Kuna Telemundo-15 was the host.

The 14 young ladies dressed in traditional arabic costumes, and answered questions about the fair, dates and history of the Coachella Valley.

Beaumont High School senior Tyler Kelleher was crowned as the 2016 Queen Scheherazade.

“I’m so excited right now, I was so excited, I didn’t expect it to be me, I am so grateful for this opportunity. I am so excited for the date fair and for the funnel cakes we are going to eat,” Kelleher said.

Joining her on her court to represent the upcoming Riverside County and National Date Festival in February is Indio High School’s Selena Andrews and Desert Mirage High School’s Vanessa Gaytan.
