Private fireworks show in Palm Desert could startle pets

The JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort and Spa will be hosting a private event on Tuesday, January 12, that includes an approximately 15-minute fireworks display taking place between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., according to City Manager David Herrman.

The private fireworks show will take place at the southwest corner of Country Club Drive and Cook Street.

Because the fireworks could disturb pets in the area, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) advises pet owners to keep their dogs and cats at home in a quiet, sheltered, and escape-proof area during fireworks displays.

Palm Desert officials encourage residents in the area to heed the SPCA’s advice.
