Two pedestrians injured in Palm Springs crash

Two people who appeared to be crossing the street were seriously injured Friday night when they were struck by a passing car.

Our CBS Local 2/KESQ news crews reports the male appeared to have major injuries, and the female had moderate injuries. They were taken from the scene by ambulance.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Indian Canyon and Granvia Valmonte in Palm Springs.

Northbound lanes of Indian Canyon were closed while police and fire crews investigate what happened.

Police say the driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and was cooperative. Drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to have played a role in the crash and the driver was not cited.
