Fire crews put out latest abandoned structure fire in Desert Hot Springs

Fire crews have put out the latest abandoned structure fire in Desert Hot Springs. The latest blaze was reported just before 5:00 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Palm Drive just north of Interstate Ten.

The actual location of the structure is on a dirt road called Mihalyo Road, which is just west of Palm Drive south of Varner Road.

Crews arrived on scene and located the 1,000 sq foot concrete structure on fire. Crews had to use a torch to cut through a metal door before putting out the blaze, which Cal Fire says took about a half hour.

No word on the cause of the latest fire in the area. Crews will be on scene for several hours for extensive mop up. Nobody was hurt.
