10-year-old pedestrian ID’d in Palm Desert collision

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department now reports a 10-year old boy died after being hit by a truck on Monterey Avenue in Palm Desert just south of Fred Waring Drive.

The boy was identified Thursday night as Bobby Adams of Palm Desert.

A 29-year old man was also struck and is being treated for serious injuries but they weren’t life-threatening.

The crash was reported at 12:18 p.m. and officials with Cal Fire said the two pedestrians were taken to the hospital.

The driver was not arrested and was cooperating with authorities, said Deputy Armando Munoz. Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be factors in the crash.

The crash happened at the intersection of Monterey Avenue and Haun Road. Monterey was closed for several hours for the investigation.
