Firefighters called to another house fire in DHS

Firefighters extinguished a house fire in Desert Hot Springs on Thursday morning.

Cal Fire was called to the 66400 Block of Flora Avenue , just west of Palm Drive, at about 9:30 a.m. The fire ignited in the corner wall of the house and firefighters had the flames contained within 10 minutes, officials said.

Nobody was injured. Firefighters said the home suffered $5,000 worth of damage but they were able to prevent $140,000 worth of damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Several fires have sparked in Desert Hot Springs throughout the past two weeks, and police believe that homeless people may be responsible.
