Man surprised by late wife’s $128,000 donation left for Make-A-Wish
Has your husband or wife ever hidden something from you? One Palm Desert man got the shock of a lifetime when his late wife’s secret finally came out.
Hartley Gaylord and his wife Sandy were married for 65 years. When his wife passed away in October of 2015, a closeted savings account was revealed to Gaylord.
Sandy Gaylord had saved $128,000 for more than 30 years to be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The organization is known for granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions, from childhood cancer to heart conditions and everything in between.
Gaylord says he was shocked to learn of the amount his wife had saved, but not surprised by her generosity to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She was a teacher and volunteered with children for most of her life.
The donation will grant 26 wishes for children throughout Southern California. The Make-A-Wish Foundation opened an official office in the Coachella Valley this last year.
