CVUSD students learn life-saving measures

Hundred of students in the Coachella Valley Unified School District received some hands-on training and tips to save lives on Friday.

Students and staff at Desert Mirage High School hosted the Heart to Heart Foundation’s first Career Technical Education Awareness Fair and life-saving skills event.

More than 300 students received CPR certifications and also learned how to use a heart defibrillator. Congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz was at the event to give demonstrations to the students.

In addition, an air ambulance helicopter landed on the school’s campus to show students the rescue process.

The life-saving measures were a great learning opportunity, but a major point of the event was to introduce the kids to the types of jobs available in various industries. Some businesses leaders and college officials were at the event to provide the students with job-training information.
