Boy with cerebral palsy receives mobility bike in Cathedral City

Zack is almost 13 years old and a recipient of a brand new Freedom Concepts bicycle from the Variety Children’s Charity. Zack has cerebral palsy, his new bike is designed to increase his physical strength and mobility.

Zack and his family were invited to the Mary Pickford Theater in Cathedral City for the official presentation of the bike.

We’re told by Ted Hane, Vice President of Variety Children’s Charity of the Desert, that the bikes are expensive because they are custom made according to the abilities of the child. He added that health care providers will not cover the bikes, but they are essential in getting a child out of a chair and becoming mobile.

Zack’s mother, Maggie Martinez, says her son loves swimming and baseball. This new bike is something he will be able to use in the house as well as outdoors. She is thankful he will now have more freedom in his mobility.
