Some La Quinta residents upset about private house party noise
Music is in the air for many residents throughout the valley, especially for the Point Happy neighborhood in La Quinta.
“Last year, I heard some music during Coachella,” Dale Ortmann said. They had a DJ. It was great. I was in my pool, just enjoying the music.”
But after living in the neighborhood for about a year, Sally Weitzel said she’s had enough with the party next door.
“My daughter told me two years ago, they were using her gate to let people in,” Weitzel said. “They posted a bouncer on the gate, and she went out there with people all over her driveway waiting to get in. She had to kick Selena Gomez off her property.”
But other neighbors like Ortmann and Bob Lieberman are welcoming the party, saying it fits in with the Coachella mood.
“I think everybody is ok here, up until a point in time like maybe two in the morning,” Ortmann said. “But, I enjoy it every year.”
And while thousands are expected to fill the Coachella Valley this weekend, residents in La Quinta say they’re all for the party, as long as it doesn’t get out of hand.
“Live and let live,” Lieberman said. “If you move to this area, and you know about this, how can you be surprised by any of this? It comes with the landscape. So kick back, and enjoy it.”
La Quinta Code Enforcement officers say the owners of the house are being compliant with the city as far as following city ordinances.
After finding a few issues including noise and parking at the property Friday, code enforcement officers said the owners quickly corrected the issues.
