Firefighters battle brush fire in Desert Hot Springs

About three dozen CAL FIRE and Riverside County firefighters contained a brush fire in Desert Hot Springs Sunday afternoon.

CAL FIRE received a call a little after 1 p.m. Crews contained the fire just after 2:30 p.m.

Officials said the fire stretched across almost two acres near Two Bunch Palms Trail and Verbena Drive.

While no people were present, crews said firefighters came across homeless camps around the fire.

Firefighters said they also had to battle winds up to 15-20 miles per hour.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
