Sara Thomas Charity Golf Tournament
Sara Thomas has battled fires for 15-years of her life for Riverside County, and now takes on the biggest flame of her career, stage-4 terminal cancer.
“I love being a firefighter, it was everything. I worked hard, I worked 15-years to get to where I am at, and I am truly going to miss it.” Sara Thomas said.
“As Sara looks on, hopefully today it will give her a little bit of energy and allows her to keep fighting strong.” Fire Captain Lucas Spelman added.
Sara’s fight continues and nearly 25 -thousand have been raised in her behalf, and today it took another big step forward with a charity golf tournament at Indian wells resort.
“Today we are hoping to get 15-thousand dollars raised for Sara.” Spelman said.
“In the future it is going to help out a lot for my daughters, if unfortunately I am not here it is going to help them out tremendously and I am truly truly grateful to everyone that has helped out.” Thomas added.
Although her days of putting fires out and saving lives is over, she will always be a firefighter.
“I will go around and bug them, give them a hard time, go over for dinner and just hang out and talk.”
“Still is a part of our family, just cause she not is on the piece of equipment with us, she is still with us and rides with us everyday.”
