Coachella Valley reacts to Orlando terror attack

After the news broke of the Orlando terror attack, hearts were heavy across the country Sunday.

Local leaders, LGBT activists and Coachella Valley visitors voiced their condolences Sunday morning.

“This just shows that even though we’ve made great advances as an LGBT community and our entire society has, we have a long ways to go because there is still a lot of hate out there,” said Palm Springs Mayor Robert Moon.

Moon said the city of Palm Springs will always put public safety at the top of their agenda.

“That’s why in our $102 million budget, well over half of it is for public safety we recently funded an additional nine people to be first responders in case something happens in Palm Springs,” said Moon.
