CHP investigates after woman totals car on HWY 111

A 55-year-old woman sustained minor injuries Friday afternoon when she drove through a metal divide while driving southeast on Highway 111 near Windy Point.

The crash happened at about 2:15 p.m.

Officers said her car rolled across Highway 111 and traveled down an embankment. She was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

It’s pretty amazing that she wasn’t injured more severely because her car was totaled in the crash. CHP officer said it’s possible that alcohol was a factor because they found bottles in her car.

There were no road closures and the California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
