Public invited to red carpet for Coachella Valley premiere of Vigilante Diaries
Christian Sesma and Mike Hatton both got their filmmaking start in the Coachella Valley. Sesma, a director, attended Palm Springs High School, and Hatton, an actor and producer, appeared as a reporter on CBS Local 2’s Eye on the Desert.
Their newest collaboration, Vigilante Diaries, starring Hatton, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson , Michael Jai White and Jason Mewes of “Clerks” fame has a limited release in theaters and on iTunes next weekend.
It will be released on DVD Blu-Ray and OnDemand on July 5th.
The filmmakers decided to have a red carpet event and screening Saturday at the Mary Pickford Theater in Cathedral City at 7:00 p.m. as a way of recognizing the area that’s given them both so much.
Sesma says Vigilante Diaries started as a web series, and ended up as a high octane feature film, which was shot all over the world, as well as the Coachella Valley.
“We shot here locally, we doubled this for the deserts of Mexico, it’s really just an all inclusive, really crazy genre film,” says Sesma.
“In addition to myself we also used lots of other local desert talent,” says Hatton. “Lots of people who came out to LA, and we both shot here in town with them, too.”
“This is where I got my start, this is where Mike (Hatton) got his start,” says Sesma. “We had a big Hollywood premiere, we can do the same here for the locals and really have a good time.”
Adds Hatton, “I was working right here in this building (CBS Local 2) when Christian and I met and I auditioned for his first film, and here we are ten years later?”
He laughs, “See, dreams do come true Coachella Valley!”
