Two arrested for stealing car near Indio

Two men are in jail after reportedly stealing a car near Indio Saturday.

Indio police officers saw a stolen car just before 11 a.m. at Lingayan Avenue and Luzon Street in the unincorporated area near the city, according to Sgt. Dan Marshall of the Indio Police Department.

Marshall said officers called sheriff’s deputies to help when a short pursuit began. The car chase ended at the Casa Serena apartments in Indio.

Police arrested the driver, Francisco Lopez, a wanted parolee for possession of a stolen vehicle and other charges. Officers also arrested the passenger.

The men are being held in jail. No injuries were reported.
