Some flights canceled out of Palm Springs
A few flights from Palm Springs were canceled on Monday, but it didn’t have anything to do with the extreme heat in the Coachella Valley, according to officials with the Palm Springs International Airport.
Two of the flights were bound for Phoenix. KESQ and CBS Local 2 confirmed those flights were canceled due to heat concerns by American Airlines, but in Phoenix.
Tom Nolan said some airports don’t allow planes to land due to ground crew safety, but planes can fly in all temperatures. The Palm Springs International Airport didn’t have any heat-related issues, so Nolan said the decision to cancel the two flights into Phoenix must have been made by American Airlines.
The airlines are in charge of canceling flights, Nolan said.
PSP is open and Nolan suggests anyone flying out of Palm Springs, or expecting anyone to land, should call the airlines for specific information before heading to the airport.
