Coachella man sentenced to two years behind bars for hit-and-run
A man charged with hitting a homeless woman with his pickup truck and leaving her to die in Coachella will spend two years behind bars.
24-year-old Jose Fernando Reyes of Coachella pleaded guilty to felony hit-and-run.
Three misdemeanors were dropped as part of the plea agreement.
According to prosecutors, Reyes hit 56-year-old Leletia Meyers on June 8th, as she was crossing the road near Avenue 48 and Grapefruit Boulevard.
Police say Reyes fled the scene.
