Twentynine Palms teen receives a Make-A-Wish
17-year-old Cody Tilch was once homeless and now lives with his grandparents. He is dedicated to giving back to his community despite the obstacles he faces with cystic fibrosis, epilepsy, diabetes, a heart condition, and thyroid disease.
Between hospital visits, Cody most looks forward to making scarves and blankets for the homeless community and other hospital patients.
When told he would receive a wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Cody decided he wanted a game and craft room to share with his family and friends – a space where he can continue to make a difference for others.
“It gives him a place to go to play because his bedroom is tight. It’s got a lot of medical equipment in it,” says Cody’s grandmother, Debbie Tilch.
Cody’s game and craft room includes a new entertainment system, a multi-game table, and a new sewing machine. He also got gift cards to Game Stop and Joann’s Fabrics, so he can continue to make scarves and blankets.
“He has a beautiful heart,” Debbie Tilch says, “No matter what he’s been through, he’s not going to let it get him down.”
