Deputies arrest 3 people trying to steal a truck in the fire evacuation zone

Three people are in custody after being arrested for allegedly trying to steal a truck from a home that was evacuated due to the Blue Cut Fire.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, they responded to a call of a suspicious call at a home in the 8600 block of Swarthout Canyon, inside the evacuation zone, on Thursday morning.

Deputies arrived and made contact with the suspects, who were attempting to leave the residence with a flatbed truck. The suspects told deputies they were picking up property for a friend that lived at the residence. Deputies made contact with the property owner who advised that he did not give anyone permission to take his property.

The three suspects were taken into custody without incident and will be booked for Looting and Grand Theft Auto. They were identified as 27-year old Daniel Mervine, Jurupa, 27-year old Natasha Rovinsky, Diamond Bar, 29-year old Trevor Sanchez, Riverside.
