Goldenvoice hiring employees for Desert Trip
Just under two months remain until rock ‘n’ roll lovers converge on the Coachella Valley for Desert Trip. A mega concert like this calls for all hands on deck, and Goldenvoice needs employees.
Davina Jimenez and her aunt are answering that call at a job fair in Indio. Both are veteran festival employees, with experience working at Coachella and Stagecoach.
“I’ve done Coachella and Stagecoach. I’ve done the campgrounds, so I wanted to see maybe getting a job more into the job less out there,” Jimenez said.
Now they’re hoping their experience will land them jobs with less manual labor.
“It gets kind of hard cause there’s a lot of trash and pick up, you have to do it. It does get a little sweaty,” Jimenez said.
Jimenez hopes to work in lost and found, while her aunt wants to work in the box office. Goldenvoice said the list of job openings is endless.
“Box office, guest services, festival ops, stage hands, as well staff security, traffic guides,” said Jarvis Smith, festival ticketing coordinator.
He said they’re seeing a lot of people apply who have already worked other festivals.
“And they’re bringing that knowledge that they’ve learned from Coachella and Stagecoach and they may have picked up something that they thought was interesting in that field and are bringing that over to the box office,” Smith said.
Most importantly, the addition of these highly anticipated concerts give an opportunity to the unemployed here in our valley.
“Maybe if this can help fill the gap in their resume that they may have been missing for some months or years, and we would love to contribute to that and put them back on the market,” Smith said.
Goldenvoice is holding another job fair tomorrow at College of the Desert. This fair is geared towards hiring customer service employees. It runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
