Rideshare services geared for special needs and seniors
A new technology company, ButterFli, has introduced an Uber-like ride service, now available for seniors and those with special needs. “It looks welcoming, comfortable, a safe place to ride with someone who knows where they’re going and what they’re doing,” said Amanda Maltvie, daughter of two senior parents who do not drive. Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for ButterFli, Geri Willis, says the service was created specifically for the 150,000 seniors and special needs people in the Valley. “Most transportation you have to arrange 24 to 48 hours in advance, so if a person that needs specialized transportation wants to take a ride they have to schedule in advance, usually, or its not out there. So we wanted to provide real time, on demand transportation, it’s a huge benefit,” said Willis. ButterFli is easily accessible through cellphone apps, at your desktop, or by phone. Willis says its a service needed more so now, than ever before. Willis continued, “Everybody’s got a story, they know someone with a disability or they have a senior in their family and it’s so important to us that we now provide them with that option.” It’s an option that Amanda Maltvie says she sees her parents using. “I think it would be very beneficial and easy for them. They won’t be intimidated to have to text, or it would be accurate, the timing, and setting up an appointment. I think it would give them peace of mind,” said Maltvie. “Millennials have Uber, we say, but the baby boomers have ButterFli,” said Willis. ButterFli’s drivers are approved by the Department of Justice and are CPR trained. To request a ride call 855-2672354 or visit their website at www.GoButterFli.com.
