DHS set to hire familiar face as “new” City Manager

Desert Hot Springs’ Interim City Manager is getting the permanent job. The city announced late Wednesday evening that a contract for Charles Maynard would be up for approval at the Nov. 15 City Council meeting. Maynard signed as six month contract as Interim City Manager in June after the abrupt resignation of Martín Magaña, the former City Manager. If approved by the City Council, Maynard’s new full-time role would be effective Dec. 23. Maynard also served as Desert Hot Springs Interim Chief of Police in 2015. The city said he was involved in the recruitment of current Chief Dale Mondary, and “successfully negotiate(d) the Police Officers Association Labor Agreement for the City.” Maynard previously served as the Chief of Police for the city of San Anselmo for 12 years.
