Suspicious package determined to be safe
UPDATE: 6:48 a.m. The suspicious object has been determined to be a power source that is supposed to be in its location. Police are leaving the scene.
ORIGINAL STORY: We are following breaking news this morning out of Indio.
Police are on scene of a suspicious package in front of a liquor store. It’s across the street from Food 4 Less. Police are taking precaution.
Bomb technicians have been called in. They arrived about 6:00 a.m. with a robot. We’re told the suspicious item is a metal box.
People called into our newsroom reporting police activity around 4:30 a.m.
Monroe between Requa and Highway 111 was closed Tuesday morning during the investigation.
