Man reported missing found dead after car crash
The California Highway Patrol has released more details about the deadly crash involving a 20-year-old man who was reported missing in Palm Springs Thursday morning. Arthur Pembrook, from Desert Hot Springs, was reported missing by his family to the Palm Springs Police Department at about 11:30 a.m. that day. On Saturday morning, authorities found that Pembrook’s Ford Taurus had been involved in a single-car crash on Dillon Road, east of Long Canyon Road. CHP officers said the crash occurred at about 4:10 a.m. on Thursday. For unknown reasons, Pembrook’s car drifted onto the right shoulder of the road and into a ravine, where it struck a tree. His car was down the ravine and covered by branches and limbs, making it difficult to be seen from the roadway, according to the CHP’s release. Pembrook was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt at the time. Officers said alcohol and/or drugs didn’t appear to be factors in the crash. The collision is still under investigation. According to Pembrook’s mother, he often worked overnight hours and normally arrived home at about 5:30 a.m.
