Local church group makes blankets for the homeless

A Sacred Heart Church group has been working hard to make blankets for the homeless.

Companions Visitations Ministry is a group of volunteers that go and visit lonely seniors. Now there’s a sub-group of those volunteers called ‘Blankets from the Heart’, they meet to make fleece blankets for the homeless.

The LINK Leadership class at Palm Desert High School even got involved to help — as there’s thousands of people in need. The blankets will get distributed this weekend to the Galilee Center.

“The Women’s Guild at Sacred Heart, senior citizens at different facilities and also we have a lot of people that take them home (to make them). It’s a group effort,” CVM founder Carol Zadel said.

The group meets once a month to make blankets.

If you’d like to help, call Sacred Heart Church and ask to get on the blanket list. The number to call is (760) 346-6502.
