Desert Hot Springs High School students discuss inauguration

Today millions of people watched the inauguration of 45th President Donald Trump, including a local Desert Hot Spring’s high school class.

The group of students who watched the inauguration during their second period class say it’s the first president they will have memory of stepping into office, which is something their teacher, Coleen Morgan, calls invaluable. “It’s really important for us to know what’s going on, and be like caught up with whatever he (Trump) says. Whatever he says and does is going to affect us most cause we’re the next generation to come,” said 12th grader, Genesis Casillas. Morgan reminds her students the importance of their role in politics. “These are future voting citizens. As divisive as the election has been, it’s important that the students see the peaceful transfer of power that is so special to our country that other countries don’t have,” Morgan said. “He’s the first president I was able to watch step into office and I feel like this is good information for me in the future, so I’ll be able to vote,” said another student.
