Power restored to more than 6,000 IID customers in Coachella
UPDATE: 9:46 p.m.
The Imperial Irrigation District said that as of 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, all power had been restored to Sky Valley and that only 57 customers remained without power.
The company spokesperson said it would be about 1-hour before power was restored to the remaining homes. Troubleshooters are on site.

IID officials say as of 8 p.m., 6,083 customers in Coachella have been restored. Officials say 700 customers living in the Dillon Road and Sky Valley areas remain without power.

IID officials have released a statement on their Facebook page regarding the Coachella power outage:
“Outage update: crews are working to make repairs to what appears to be a transformer fire at our Coachella switching yard. This is impacting approximately 6800 customers in the Coachella, Dillon Rd and Sky Valley areas. Operators are working to reroute power while crews make repairs. Thank you all for your patience.”

The Imperial Irrigation District tells KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 that 6,073 customers were without power in Coachella near the intersection of 9th Street and Vine Avenue Sunday night. A company spokesperson said the incident happened around 3:42 p.m.
KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2’s Lauren Coronado reported seeing flames at the IID Switching Station near the intersection of 9th Street and Vine Avenue.
CAL FIRE was on scene and said they were responding to reports of multiple transformers blown. The Coachella Police Department is also on scene.
No other details were made available. There is no estimated time of when the issue will be resolved.
