Desert Hot Springs home invasion robbery

Desert Hot Springs Police were investigating a home invasion robbery at a home along the 67700 block of Loma Vista Road.

Officers were called to the residence at 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening where a resident said an acquaintance came to his home with four other men he didn’t know.

Upon arrival, those officers say they found a pipe bomb that created a hazardous situation.

The suspects earlier pulled out guns and forced their way inside the home stealing a number of items including the victim’s vehicle.

The suspects then left the residence.

Investigating officers say the improvised explosive device was located near the front door.

A perimeter was established around the home until a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Hazardous Device Team arrived and removed the device at 10:20 p.m.

It was safely detonated outside.

No injuries were reported, and the case is being investigated by DHSPD Detectives.
