Motorcyclist injured after crashing into car on Gene Autry Trail

The Palm Springs Police Department reopened a portion of Gene Autry Trail after a motorcyclist crashed into a Lexus sedan south of I-10 Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred at about 10:45 a.m. Sergeant Mike Villegas said the motorcyclist was driving southbound and ended up rear-ending the Lexus, which was legally stopped and about to make a left turn onto Salvia Road.

The motorcyclist had minor to moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital. The driver of the Lexus wasn’t hurt in the collision, Officer Villegas said in a release. Alcohol and/or drugs were not factors in the crash.

Officers cleared the road by about 11:15 a.m. and traffic was operating normally.
