Kids, young adults honored for contributions to community

Valley kids and young adults were recognized for their achievements Saturday night.

Seven were honored at the “It’s My Life” Awards at the Indian Wells Country Club, hosted by the foster family agency Family Health & Support Network.

Co-Founders Sandra Austin and Robbie Peer said the purpose is to recognize kids and young adults who have overcome obstacles, and make contributions to their community.

“Encouragement is powerful,” Austin said. “You set a level of expectations when you recognize that a kid has been through something, and they come out and persevere. So we celebrate that.”

Family Health & Support Network has more than 48 homes and helps 100 kids throughout Riverside County.
