Destination PSP helps more than 14 local organizations
There’s a place where you can shop and support local organizations at the same time. From the Palm Springs Animal Shelter to the Desert AIDS Project, Destination PSP is helping to promote more than 14 local organizations.
“With the merchandise, it’s both a revenue source for these organizations, but it’s also branding and awareness. We have their merchandise year-round and some of these events are just two weeks a year or one weekend a year,” said owner Jeffrey Bernstein.
Bernstein and his team create the merchandise for most of the organizations, including the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
“We do all the merchandise for the Palm Springs International Film Festival and Short Film Festival that just wrapped up. For that we do a pop-up store. This one we did inside of the Camelot and it’s very successful and we actually sell a film festival item in our store or online every day of the year,” Bernstein said.
The store creates buzz before and after the event, which is what Destination PSP is doing for Comic Con Palm Springs.
“We love the fact that this event is in Palm Springs. We love the fact as a business owner that it’s in August, which is a quiet time. And we also saw that we could help them. So we’ve been selling Comic Con things since March and a lot of people are learning about the event through the merchandise,” Bernstein said.
Customers said they appreciate how unique the items are.
“It’s upper-end, luxury goods. I just love the whole feel of it,” said Kim Navarre from New Orleans.
Bernstein hopes to grow the business to help other organizations down valley.
“We are branching out to the whole valley. We have some events that will take place down valley. We’re already working with Desert Arc for example,” Bernstein said.
It really can’t get better than shopping for a good cause.
