Congressman Ruiz introduces bill to permanently fund & expand access to health care subsidies
Congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz introduced the “Marketplace Certainty Act” Tuesday, which would permanently fund cost sharing reduction subsidies and expand access for families.
Currently, seven million Americans rely on these critical subsidies to afford out-of-pocket costs, like deductibles and co-payments.
Estimates show that if cost sharing subsidies are not funded, health insurance premiums could rise by an average of 19%.
“This is a pragmatic common sense legislation that will help stabilize premiums and keep insurers in the exchanges. So we need to put solution above partisanship and work together to help American families,” Ruiz said.
By passing this act, Ruiz says families and insurers would not exit the marketplace.
