New gun laws causing issues for buyers & sellers
California is facing some setbacks on the latest gun control reforms, pushing back a number of deadlines.
The state passed laws expanding the definition of an “assault weapon” to include any magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition, gun owners are required to purchase them from a licensed vendor.
The state promised that an online application process and statewide database of licensed dealers would be up and running by July 1.
As of July 19. neither the application or the database is working.
“The law went into place, but there’s no policies or procedures on how to administer this law, so right now we were supposed to register as of January 1st to be an ammo vendor but there’s no possible way to do that because the state is behind,” said Kent Miller, assistant manager at 2nd Amendment Sports.
This means buyers aren’t able to get legal ammunition because dealers can’t secure a legal way of selling it.
